Looking forward to Polyfest

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!! It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific. This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages. The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages. Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning? Awesome isn't it!

People and their whanau participate in this event to see how their cultures performs and the moves they use. They also go to watch their friends and families perform in public.

The things that the performers had to go through to get their items seen was….. They practise, practise and practise on their dance to get it right for the actual day. They also practise their singing because some groups sing while they sing.

This event helps and encourages people to be confident, happy and proud of their culture. It also encourages people to

I'm looking forward to meeting new people because it is good to communicate with people and be a good person.
I am also looking forward to tasting the food, watching the stages and looking at the stations we will be looking at.

Visual Mihi

This picture above, is my Visual Mihi. All those photos are all about me and they mean something to me.

The first photo has the word 'music' on it, music notes and a microphone. Why... I love music so much because it helps me when I having problems and I am also a singer. I really like the vibe that music makes and the rhythm.

The second photo has a bible on it. Why? Because I love church and going to church because I learn a lot of stories about god and what happened around those times.

The third photo is about the sports I love to play and do. I really love to ride on my skateboard and play basketball. I also like to do boxing because it runs in my family and because I just like punching things.
The sport that didn't show, is rugby.... I really love to play rugby because I play with my brothers and they teach me more of how to play it.

The lucky last photo has two flags in it. For the reason that, I live in New Zealand, I love New Zealand and I was born in New Zealand..... But I am a Tongan and I am proud to be a Tongan.
The photo in the middle is me.... My name is Jennifer and I am 12...
Well that is about me!
